Accounts Assistance (In Practice)

TLB Consulting is recruiting on behalf of an established independent accountancy practice that is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its team.

This is a varied role offering exposure to bookkeeping, VAT, year-end accounts preparation and basic tax work. It would suit someone with at least two years’ experience within an accountancy practice who is looking to develop their knowledge and take on greater responsibility within a supportive working environment.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Completing fortnightly, monthly and quarterly bookkeeping
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Preparing limited company accounts
• Preparing sole trader and partnership accounts
• Assisting with basic tax return preparation
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information
• Supporting the management team with ad hoc duties
• Assisting with general office duties when required, including answering telephone calls

About you

To be considered, you should have:

• At least two years’ experience working within an accountancy practice
• Experience in bookkeeping, VAT returns or year-end accounts preparation
• A minimum of AAT Level 3 qualification, or an equivalent level of experience
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills
• The confidence to communicate professionally with clients
• The ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively as part of a team

The opportunity

You will be joining a friendly and established independent practice offering a varied workload and the opportunity to continue developing your accountancy experience.

The role will initially be based in Torbay throughout the six-month probationary period. Following successful completion of probation, there will be the option to work on a hybrid basis or from the practice’s Exeter location.
