Architectural Technician / Technologist

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, multi-disciplinary property and construction organisation with an in-house architectural design team. Based in Exeter, the business delivers projects across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset, primarily within the public sector.

The in-house design team works closely with internal construction, property, and project delivery colleagues, offering a collaborative, delivery-focused working environment.

The role provides the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of RIBA stages, supporting the delivery of technically robust and compliant projects. There is a strong commitment to developing emerging talent, with support for apprentices, graduates, and those working toward professional accreditation.

The project portfolio is predominantly focused on the education sector, including early years, primary and secondary schools, further and higher education, and SEND provision. In addition, the team supports a varied range of projects across other public and commercial assets, offering a diverse and rewarding workload.

The Role

You will support the delivery of architectural design services as part of an in-house design team, contributing technical expertise across multiple project stages. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to delivery and working closely with wider construction and property professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

• Producing accurate, high-quality technical drawings, specifications, and construction information
• Supporting projects across multiple RIBA stages
• Preparing and submitting Planning and Building Control applications
• Ensuring statutory approvals are obtained in a timely and compliant manner
• Working collaboratively with internal teams to meet programme, budget, and quality requirements

Candidate Requirements

This role would suit a proactive and technically capable Architectural Technician or Technologist who enjoys working in a collaborative, delivery-led environment.

You will ideally have:

• Proficiency in Revit (essential)
• Working knowledge of Autodesk 2D drafting software
• Experience using NBS Chorus (desirable)
• Strong technical and construction understanding
• Good awareness of UK Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, and general construction methods
• Solid technical detailing skills across both new build and refurbishment projects
• A positive, team-focused approach with a willingness to learn and develop
• Working toward CIAT or equivalent professional accreditation (desirable – support and funding available)
