Estates Surveyor 

Full Time- Up to £56,563.96 per annum

37 hours per week | Monday to Friday (9am–5pm with flexible working hours)

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, multi-disciplinary property consultancy delivering high-profile projects and professional services to public and private sector clients across the South West.

The organisation operates modern working practices, with a refurbished open-plan office on the outskirts of Exeter offering excellent access to the M5 corridor. They also promote agile and flexible working, allowing staff to work from home part of the week and adjust working patterns where required.


The Role

The Estates Surveyor will support the delivery of estate management and valuation services, working to agreed targets and in line with relevant legislation, professional standards, and internal policies. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a varied and engaging workload within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Negotiation and completion of property transactions, including sales, acquisitions, leases, licences, easements, and wayleaves
  • Undertaking rent reviews, valuations, including Local Authority asset valuations
  • Supporting rating appeals and general estate management activity
  • Assisting with the delivery of valuation and advisory services across a diverse property portfolio
  • Managing stakeholder relationships and engaging effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Working independently on assigned matters or collaboratively within a wider multi-disciplinary team

Candidate Requirements

This role would suit an experienced General Practice Surveyor, ideally with a solid background in estates and valuation work.

You will ideally have:

  • Chartered membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or be working toward chartership
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in an estates-related discipline
  • RICS Registered Valuer status (desirable)
  • Experience in a similar or related Estates Surveyor role
  • Strong knowledge of landlord and tenant law, compulsory purchase and compensation, and valuation methodologies
  • Familiarity with relevant construction and health & safety legislation, including asbestos awareness
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • A full UK driving licence to meet travel requirements
  • A valid site card or willingness to obtain one immediately
