A well-established UK manufacturer of high-quality, British-made products is looking to appoint an experienced Manufacturing / Workshop Manager to support continued growth and operational improvement.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a small, skilled manufacturing team, ideal for someone who enjoys being involved on the shop floor while also driving process improvements, quality standards, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Operations
- Overall responsibility for health & safety within the manufacturing environment
- Monitor and ensure production targets are achieved efficiently
- Source and order consumables and materials
- Continuously optimise production processes
- Oversee quality assurance and product standards
- Take a hands-on approach, supporting the manufacturing team as required
People & Management
- Communicate effectively with senior management and suppliers
- Support team building, morale, and wellbeing
- Manage performance in line with company policies and procedures
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong engineering knowledge
- Proven ability to review, improve, and implement processes and procedures
- Active involvement in new product and project development
- Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting mechanical products
- Commercial awareness and consideration of financial requirements
- Self-motivated and comfortable working within a small team environment
- Good computer skills
- Strong problem-solving ability, including root cause analysis
- Ability to design jigs and fixtures to support and improve production
Desirable
- Knowledge of CNC machining
- Experience with 2D CAD
- Certificate-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kanban systems
